Lead Design Systems Engineer

We are hiring a Lead Design Systems Engineer in Gurugram for a team building on design systems, Accessibility, Governance. 7-9 years of experience.

design systems, Accessibility, Governance, with Documentation, Versioning across the wider stack.

• 7-9 years with design systems in production.
• Hands-on depth in Accessibility, Governance, enough to defend a decision you made in each, and name the one you rejected.
• Working familiarity with Documentation, Versioning.
• You have led delivery across more than one person's work: setting the technical direction, reviewing it, and being answerable when it slipped.
• The ability to explain a technical decision to somebody who did not make it. Every round here includes it.

Not the focus of the interview, but part of the job. Teams ask about these, so be ready to talk about them:

• Git, branching and code review as a daily habit
• One cloud provider used in anger: AWS, Azure or GCP
• CI/CD: your work reaches an environment without somebody carrying it
• A build toolchain (Vite, Webpack or Turbopack), and a bundle you have made smaller
• Automated tests: unit with Jest or Vitest, end-to-end with Playwright or Cypress
• Core Web Vitals, and having moved one of them on a real site
• REST and GraphQL from the consuming side, including error and loading states

Expect to be asked how you would approach a problem in each of the areas above, and why you would not take the obvious route. Then one level down on whichever answer was weakest.
