Source: CNCF BlogEasyHow cards are made

CNCF accepted 58 new ambassadors for its 2026–2028 cohort, while 48 previous ambassadors stepped away.

CNCF announced its 2026–2028 Ambassador cohort on 6 October 2026. The foundation accepted 58 new ambassadors from more than 600 submissions; 126 returning ambassadors reapplied and 123 were accepted back, while 93 continued without reapplying. The total cohort is 311 people, with Europe leading the geographic distribution. CNCF says ambassadors contribute through project work, Kubernetes Community Days, translations and local community activity. The announcement is a community update rather than a software release, but it gives learners a concrete view of pathways into cloud-native open source.
