Jev catches changes in an analytics test, but false alarms matter

Source: Amplitude BlogEasyHow cards are made

Amplitude reports a synthetic analytics benchmark. Strong recall alone does not prove reliable production analysis.

Why it matters

A model can find the important changes yet create extra work by flagging harmless charts. Compare both missed changes and false alarms.

Try this

Use a small set of real charts labelled by an analyst. Hide the labels from the model, then compare its results with those labels.

Keep in mind

Amplitude is the vendor reporting this synthetic benchmark. Its results do not establish performance for every product or dataset.

Interview question

Why can strong recall still create extra work?

  • a.The model may flag harmless charts tooCorrect
  • b.Recall measures purchase revenue
  • c.Every alert is guaranteed correct
  • d.Synthetic charts prove all real-world results
Why?

False alarms reduce precision and need review.
